The Muslim Brotherhood's statement on the earthquake in Haiti.
The Muslim Brotherhood Movement prides itself in its efforts on concentrating on working for the good and the well-being of humanity as a whole hence adhering to the Quranic script. {O mankind we created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things)} (Alhujarat, 13) That said Badie has stressed that the aftermath to the 7.0 magnitude earthquake, which struck, in Haiti has been closely followed where it has completely devastated Port-au-Prince leaving hundreds of thousands trapped under the rubble adding "over the past week the world has seen the haunting and heart breaking images coming out of Haiti". Badie issued an international call in general and an Arab and Islamic call in particular for aid to assist the people on the impoverished Caribbean island as they continue to battle for food, water and medical aid. Badie concluded his statement by ascertaining that Haiti already has a diminished capacity to handle disaster because of its status and even that capacity has been destroyed. The Chairman recounted the images of tens of thousands of Haitians trapped under the rubbles and noted that the fate of those trapped depends on the response by the industrialized world. {Help ye one another in righteousness and piety but help ye not one another in sin and rancor} Dr Mohamed Badie Chairman of the Muslim Brotherhood 19th January 2010.
He stressed that images of men, women and children in desperate search for food, water and medical care and yet not finding it are heart breaking. "I appeal to the international committee to lead the relief efforts, and I say international because this has no partisanship. I call on all the political parties and NGOs to unite and work together to bring as much relief to the people in Haiti as possible. I call on the international community to set aside trivialities for this humanitarian cause, since this is what Islam orders us to do to work as one demonstrating that the only real nation is humanity".
The lives of the Haitians depend on the pace of the international community, so again I urge every individual nationally and internationally to move swiftly to assist Haiti.
