Muslim Brotherhood’s Statement on “State of lawlessness”
Muslim Brotherhood’s Statement on “State of lawlessness”
Governments of developed countries acquire their legitimacy from the free will of their own people and its firm commitment to the Constitution and the promoting and full implementation of the court rulings. Egypt’s regime is an example that lacks the respect for these three fundamental principles.
The Egyptian Constitution stipulates in its Article No (64) states “Sovereignty of the law shall be the basis of rule in the state” and in its Article No (65) states “The State shall be subject to law. The independence and immunity of the judiciary are two basic guarantees to safeguard rights and liberties.” However, the Political analysts daily witness violations of the law and the Constitution especially with regards to those who politically challenge the ruling regime. In fact, 12 high ranking leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood including University staff members, Engineers, Physicians and public figures were re-arrested for the third time and placed in a jail.
The movement’s members were detained after pre-dawn raids on their houses on May 14th. The Supreme State Security Prosecution renewed three times the 15 day detention order. The defense team for the Muslim Brotherhood has sent an appeal challenging police custody after the North Cairo criminal court acquitted them on 28 July. The Interior Ministry challenged the ruling and issued another arrest warrant on June 30 in accordance with the unjustified emergency law which it has imposed on the Egyptians for nearly thirty years. Government officials had vowed that the emergency law would not be implemented except in cases of terrorism or drug trafficking, cases that have no basis or links to the movement.
Adding salt to the wound is, where there is implementing of the "Emergency Law" are the cases of seventeen Muslim Brotherhood’s high ranking leaders, who have been acquitted by the administrative court, and belonging to different professions including faculty members at universities, engineers, doctors, accountants and businessmen who had been sentenced three years in the recent military tribunal. The detainees have already completed three quarters of their sentence.
Appeals have been filed before the Supreme Administrative Court. But there have since been numerous postponements and delays demonstrating utter disrespect and disregard to the chartered bills.
These measures prove that the regime fails to convince its citizens that it cares for their well-being; in fact it shows contempt to the constitution by not respecting its provisions.
The Muslim Brotherhood asserts that they are convinced of the regimes intolerable injustice and aggression will be faced with continued perseverance and resilience The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Those who came before you were ruined because if a nobleman among them stole they would let him off, but if a weak and insignificant person stole they would carry out the punishment on him....
The Brotherhood supplicates to Allah to lift the tyranny of oppressive rulers and relieve the distress of the Muslims with the firm belief that Allah will remove the injustice upon them and quells all oppressors (And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take!).
The movement vows work for the welfare and progress of their Muslim Community wishing for only the best for their nation, no matter what sacrifices have to be offered. They will continue in their sublime mission “Our Lord! Decide Thou between us and our people in truth, for Thou art the best to decide”. We are confident that truth proves itself “For the scum disappears like forth cast out; while that which is for the good of mankind remains on the earth…..” (Our Lord! in Thee do we trust, and to Thee do we turn in repentance: to Thee is (our) Final Goal.”
“And Allah hath full power and control over His affairs; but most among mankind know it not.”
