MB Statement on Developments of the Egyptian Attitude Towards the Palestinian Cause

The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) followed Egypt’s decision of intention to formally intervene in support of South Africa’s case at the International Court of Justice, a decision that has come very late, which tempted the occupation to continue to strangle the Gaza Strip, tighten the siege on it, and commit massacres, genocide, and crimes against humanity in the Palestinian Strip, which has recently become a key threat to Egyptian national security after the Israeli occupation of the Rafah crossing and the Palestinian side of the border with Egypt.

The Brotherhood stresses that Egypt is a country that enjoys regional and international weight and has a geographical, historical, political, and legal connection to Palestine. In fact, it should have done more than that towards Palestine and its cause, and towards its own national security. The Egyptian government should play its due role –by virtue of such weight– and adopt necessary policies and decisions to stop the genocide war in Gaza, protect the Egyptian border, and preserve Egypt’s sovereignty and national security.
