Martyr President Mohamed Morsi...This is the story of the conflict that led to his overthrow
The Muslim Brotherhood has issued a statement on the fifth anniversary of the passing of the late President of Egypt, Mohamed Morsi. We remember him today, and he is the one who did not lose sight of our minds, highlighting his achievements and biography. Which revealed his personality, thoughts, and vision, as well as the true nature of the ongoing conflict even ten years after his forced removal and imprisonment. The statement reflects on the events that have unfolded over the years and confirm this fact.
The martyr president came to power in Egypt - as the first civilian president elected by free popular will - after a major revolution against tyranny and corruption. He sought to establish the values of freedom, dignity, and social justice, uphold the rule of law, fight corruption, and unleash energies in the battle for development. However, the state, its agencies, and the law enforcement authorities did not hand over their leadership to the elected authority; rather, they worked to stop the advance of freedom and stifle a nascent experience. If it had been given life, Egypt and its people would have a different place of status, advancement and progress, and the corrupt thieves of power and wealth would also have a different place.
The origin of the conflict—in its local dimension—was that the national will was not liberated, so the peoples chose those who competed to respect their will and choices. This narrowed the way for Islamic law to govern, and Islam brought goodness and development to its people, as well as freedom and independence to its countries.
As he said in his Labor Day speech, the martyr president declared that the dream of progress can only be achieved by possessing that national will. “We want to have our will! We must produce our food, we must produce our medicine, we must produce our weapons.” This is the story of the conflict in its truest and clearest form: working to stop the dream of construction and development and freedom from dependency. Progress is nothing but a dream, will, and work.
In the global dimension, the West would not stand idly by in the face of a rising experience that could represent an alternative that would save people from poverty and dependency. The Muslim Brotherhood always seeks to present an Islamic civilizational alternative as a competitor to the bankruptcy of incoming regimes that have not achieved a just society in their country, let alone achieve it for others. Because it depends on materialism, exploitation, and the consecration of power and wealth in the hands of a small handful of people, in addition to its lack of human and spiritual values. Providing an Islamic civilizational alternative is a threat to a civilization that today is on the verge of bankruptcy more than ever before, and its systems have even been unable to meet the requirements of civilizational survival.
The martyr president set himself as a role model. Role models make history by setting an example of the purity of the hand, the nobility of the intention, and the sincerity of the promise. He even sacrificed his life for the January 25 Revolution to achieve its goals and fulfill his pledge to the Egyptians. He released his immortal saying: “The price of legitimacy is my life... my life.” He was sincere toward Allah and Allah fulfilled his wish, and he met his Lord as a martyr for what he believed in. He could have bargained for his life and comfort. Still, he created a model and an example for generations he did not see to repeat his words: “So that our children will know that their fathers and grandfathers were men who did not accept injustice and would never give in to corrupts' opinions, and would never give inferiority to their homeland, legitimacy, or religion.”
"May God have mercy on you, O president, who sought freedom and prosperity for your people. However, instead of appreciating your efforts, deceitful individuals chose to revolt against you with false claims and promises, aiming to seize power and control wealth. As a result, the Egyptians have been burdened by poverty, soaring prices, fear, and humiliation, yearning for the past."
For this reason, we say: Mr. President, rest assured, because every false and slanderous accusation made against you has become a defining characteristic of those making them, and every controversy surrounding you has been resolved, revealing the falsehood of those who have been prominently involved. They have exploited the blood, money, and reputation of the Egyptians, and their extreme corruption has become a topic of global discussion.
As for you, you went to your Lord and did not shed unlawful blood or eat unlawful wealth, and you repeated the history of the first Muslim rulers in justice and freedom. So, sleep peacefully, for you - even if there is little help today - have set an example and established the argument. God will provide you with someone who will defend you day after day. Rather, generations, events, and facts will erase the traces of obscurantism about your life. God Almighty said: (Indeed, Allah defends those who believe. Surely Allah does not like whoever is deceitful, ungrateful.) [Hajj, 38]. We are confident that it will not be long until the clean history has its say about you, and the truthful narrator tells the story about you one day, “The ˹worthless˺ scum is then cast away, but what benefits people remains on the earth. This is how Allah sets forth parables" [Al-Ra’ad: Verse 17]. , And Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.
