MB condemns crime of forced displacement of Egyptians and policies of property titling for foreigners in Egypt
The Egyptians have never known an era during which Egyptian lands were ever sold (to foreigners) as happened during the post-2013 coup regime era. The sale of the (Red Sea) Tiran and Sanafir islands was only one of a series of concessions, which were followed by the sale of other Egyptian villages, towns, coasts and islands.
This policy, which the regime follows to please its regional supporters, is basically to ensure its survival in power, even if it is at the expense of the Egyptian citizen, and Egypt’s security and sovereignty.
The crime of dispossession and forced displacement has never occurred in Egypt as it did during this unjust era! The displacement of the residents of Rafah and the demolition of their homes was in favor of the security of “Israel”. In fact, the strangulation of the Gaza Strip has been one of those crimes against the Egyptian people and its national security, as well as the people of Palestine.
Today, forced evictions and expropriation of the people of Egypt – with respect to the lands of “Marsa Matrouh” and “Warraq Island” – are taking place without legal basis, to force the inhabitants and the indigenous people of the land to quit it, in order to give it to foreigners.
The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) condemns the Egyptian authorities’ attempts to evict the Warraq Island, viewing it as a violation of the law and the Constitution, as Article 63 of the Egyptian Constitution prohibits the arbitrary forced displacement of citizens in all its forms and manifestations, where any violation in this respect is a crime that does not lapse by prescription.
The MB supports the citizens' right to hold on to their homes and lands, and calls on the legislative and judicial powers to stand by the citizens in defending their legitimate rights, and to support them in all possible forms of support – in recognition of truth and justice. The Brotherhood also calls on the three Egyptian powers not to squander the nation's resources, and to restore the dignity of the Egyptian citizen.
May Allah Almighty protect Egypt for the Egyptians.
