MB: We Condemn the Assassination Crime Against Mujahid Scholar Hussein Atwi And Extend Our Condolences
In the name of Allah, most gracious, most merciful: {Among the believers are men true to what they promised Allah. Among them is he who has fulfilled his vow [to the death], and among them is he who awaits [his chance]. And they did not alter [the terms of their commitment] by any alteration.} (Al-Ahzab 23)
The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) condemns the heinous Zionist crime that has targeted the mujahid scholar Sheikh Hussein Izzat Atwi, a leader of the Islamic Group (known as Al-Jama'ah Al-Islamiyah- JI) in Lebanon and a member of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS). Atwi was martyred while carrying out his duty of Da’wa (preaching), ‘Ribat’, and defence of the Lebanese people, as well as supporting the mujahideen stationed in Palestine against the brutal Zionist aggression. The martyr's soul ascended to heaven after a treacherous bombing by the Israeli occupation forces on southern Lebanon.
This cowardly assassination, targeting preachers and activists, confirms that the Zionist enemy is continuing its aggression. In addition, Atwi's martyrdom on Lebanese soil confirms that the war on Palestine is the nation's battle against this usurping entity. It is a battle for existence, identity, and dignity, in which the arenas should not be separated and the ranks should not be divided.
As the Brotherhood mourns this martyred Mujahid, it extends its condolences to the Islamic Group in Lebanon, the martyr’s esteemed family, his brothers, and his students, praying to Allah Almighty to bestow patience and tranquility upon them, and to accept him among the martyrs, include him among the righteous, and to bless him with the best reward for what he did on behalf of his nation.
Allah Almighty says: {...so that Allah may make evident those who believe and [may] take to Himself from among you martyrs - and Allah does not like the wrongdoers.} (Al-Imran: 140).
