Eid al-Fitr: Joy After Worship

Praise be to Allah Almighty alone, as He made feasts and holidays seasons of joy. And blessings and peace be upon the prophet of guidance and the bestowed mercy, Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him), all his kinsfolk, companions, and followers till the Day of Judgment.

Allah Almighty says in Surat Yunus: ﴾ Say, "In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy - in that let them rejoice; it is better than what they accumulate." ﴿(Yunus : 58). The joy of Eid; it is a joy that no walls can contain, nor curtains hide; as it is the joy of obeying Allah Almighty and enjoying the sweetness of striving for the sake of pleasing Him.
As a fasting person has two joys: one when breaking his fast and another when meeting his Lord, so it is the right of Muslims who have tasted the sweetness of closeness to Allah Almighty during the blessed month of Ramadan to rejoice, be happy, and be glad of the favor of Allah Almighty in what He has enabled them to do in terms of acts of obedience and closeness to Him.
They have tasted the sweetness of closeness to Allah by obeying His command through fasting, performance of night prayers, righteousness, and maintaining kinship ties.
They have tasted the sweetness of closeness to Allah by supplicating to Him in prayer at the times when prayers are most likely to be answered, such as at the time of breaking the fast and at dawn before Adhan (call to prayer). ﴾And when My servants ask you, O Mohammad, concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me…﴿ (Al-Baqarah: 186)
They have tasted the sweetness of closeness to Allah by gathering with one another, getting closer to one another, and increasing their acquaintance with one another in their mosques during the performance of the obligatory prayers, the night prayer, and the Tarawih prayer, where they live in the shade of reciting the blessed verses of the Holy Quran.
They have tasted the sweetness of closeness to Allah by gathering together at breakfast tables with their relatives, loved ones, and neighbors, as this gathering and meeting increases their acquaintance, affection, and harmony.
They have tasted the sweetness of closeness to Allah through attending the lessons of knowledge and the gatherings of sincere scholars, which are filled with tranquility and upon which mercy descends from Allah. These are gatherings where there is contemplation of the verses of Allah, and in which there is narration and listening to the biographies of the righteous, and where there is studying of the conditions of our nation and how we used to rule this world for centuries, only when we were holding fast to the guidance of the Book of our Lord and the Sunnah of our Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
They have tasted the sweetness of closeness to Allah by distancing themselves from the media that have consistently intensified programs and series during Ramadan in order to distract and mislead, distort historical facts, and tarnish the symbols of Da’wa.
They have tasted the sweetness of closeness to Allah through the verses of the Holy Quran, which they recite or which are recited to them day and night, in which there is healing, light, preaching, insight, reminder, and guidance.
In the verses of Allah Almighty, He says: ﴾Indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so worship Me. ﴿(Al-Anbiya: 92). It is a nation like one body, so if one part of it is afflicted, the rest of the body responds with sleeplessness and fever.
And in Allah's verses there is a warning against division and disunity, and an encouragement to strive for unity: ﴾And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided …﴿ (Al-Imran: 103)
And in Allah's verses there is a warning against taking non-believers as allies: ﴾O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another… ﴿ (Al-Maidah: 51)
And in them is a warning to the tyrants of the earth who have been afflicted by their power with arrogance, as they spread aggression and corruption on earth, and they even supposed that have capability over it: ﴾Never think that the disbelievers are causing failure [to Allah] upon the earth. Their refuge will be the Fire - and how wretched the destination. ﴿ (Al-Nur: 57)
They have tasted the sweetness of closeness to Allah when they felt, each day of their fasting, that the reward comes after patience, so they repeat when breaking their fast: “The thirst is gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is confirmed, if Allah wills”; so that they may be assured that victory comes with patience, and that with hardship comes ease. At sunset, as they break their fast with family and children, they remember those dear brothers who were deprived of this blessing, unjustly and falsely locked up behind bars, and some who were denied regular visits, let alone the Eid visit; the Eid that passes them by year after year without receiving a word or sign to reassure them about their families and children. But it suffices for them that Allah Almighty is their protector, and that they have been harmed in His cause. We pray to Allah Almighty to grant them peace of mind, to replace them (with goodness) regarding their families and loved ones, and to hasten their relief. Their supplication at that time will be: The pain is gone, the truth has emerged, and the reward is confirmed, if Allah wills.
The joy of believers is truly remarkable. Behold, the wounded Gaza has rejoiced, and the entire nation rejoices with it, for its steadfastness and resilience, despite all it has endured and suffered, standing firm with faith and conviction against the most brutal forces of oppression and tyranny. Indeed, all free people from everywhere sympathized with Gaza, and we saw the ululations of the martyr’s mother who rejoiced in her son, as a crown on her head, while he, hopefully, was receiving good tidings about those (to be martyred) after him, from those who have not yet joined him. And here are the processions of reciting the Holy Quran in the Gaza, the land of glory, with hundreds of young men and women memorizing it, bringing joy, happiness and delight to the hearts of the believers.
Congratulations to Muslims everywhere on their joy of Eid al-Fitr after their acts of worship during the month of Ramadan. It is a joy that renews hope and is accompanied by a determination to invest the gains of Ramadan of drawing closer to Allah and provision of worship in continuing the path towards pleasing Allah. In the holy hadith, the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) says: The five (daily) prayers and from one Friday prayer to the (next) Friday prayer, and from Ramadhan to Ramadhan are expiations for the (sins) committed in between (their intervals) provided one shuns the major sins. (Reported by Muslim)
However, the hearts of the believers remain hopeful for the ultimate joy, the joy of the unity of the nation, the attainment of its will, the liberation of its lands, and the utilization of its resources; and for such a goal, let the workers strive. ﴾It is He who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion. And sufficient is Allah as Witness. ﴿ (Al-Fat’h: 28)
Brothers and Sisters,
May Allah accept our good deeds and yours. May He Almighty accept us and you among those whom He has freed from Hellfire. May He also grant us and you the blessing of reaching the month of Ramadan many times over.

May Allah’s peace, blessings, and mercy be upon our Prophet Mohammad.
Allah is the greatest, and praise be to Allah,
