MB: The Knesset's Approval of the "Death Penalty Law” for Prisoners Is a New Crime That Confirms the Entity's Continued War Against The Palestinian People
The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) condemns the so-called “death penalty law” for Palestinian prisoners passed by the “Israeli” Knesset two days ago, considering it a new crime that confirms the “Israeli” enemy's continued war on the Palestinian people. It is also a continuation of the crime of genocide through a path that lacks legitimacy, as it was issued by an occupying government, as well as being contrary to the origin of the international law and the explicit provisions of the international humanitarian law and also being contrary to what has been established in the political reality, international agreements and UN resolutions. Hence, the Brotherhood declares its full solidarity with the Palestinian people in the face of this law.
All prisoner swap deals, most recently the ceasefire agreement announced in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh under the auspices of regional and international parties, practically confirm that Palestinians in Israeli prisons are “prisoners of war” and not “convicted prisoners” under Israeli law, even if they were imprisoned based on orders issued by the occupying power’s courts, just as the recent agreement confirmed the status of Israeli soldiers held by the Islamic Resistance Movement – Hamas as prisoners of war.
In this regard, the Muslim Brotherhood calls on the countries sponsoring and guaranteeing the ceasefire and prisoner swap deal to urgently intervene to force the occupation to annul this law, to address the potential threat to the lives of Palestinian prisoners, and to work seriously to stop the crimes of torture, rape and all forms of ongoing violations against Palestinian prisoners.
The MB also calls on Arab and Islamic countries to take all necessary legal and political measures with the relevant international organizations, particularly the United Nations (UN) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ), in order to stop putting this “law” into force.
It also calls on the countries of the world to work to isolate this usurping entity internationally, to reconsider cooperation with it, and to make collective and individual pressure decisions to force it to abandon its arrogance, which has become a source of anxiety for all countries of the world and a constant source of concern for humanity.
The Brotherhood calls upon the masses of our Arab and Islamic nation, its elites and intellectuals, and all free people of the world to embrace the cause of the Palestinian prisoners and raise public awareness of their conditions, their rights, and the threats they face, so that the entire world may hear their story and witness the extent of the inhumanity inflicted upon them in the occupation's prisons.
It also calls for supporting human rights activists and politicians who address the issue of prisoners in international forums and backing them in carrying out their mission.
May Allah Almighty protect the captives and preserve Palestine for its people and nation; Long live Palestine as a free and independent state.
Allah is the greatest, and praise be to Allah,
