MB Press Release Regarding the  ‘Makkah Joint Defence Agreement’

The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) appreciates the announcement of the signing of the “Makkah Joint Defence Agreement” between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Türkiye, and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, hoping that such step will manifest the beginning of other serious steps towards achievement of joint coordination among countries of the Islamic world to achieve internal security and peace, away from intrusive foreign influence.

The MB calls on decision-makers and leaders of the region to expand regional alliances to include countries of the Islamic world and its cultural centers, foremost among them Egypt, in order to face regional and international challenges. However, this will only be achieved by ending reliance on foreign protection and achieving independence of defense and security systems as a first step in this path.

In fact, the roots of the tension in our region go back to the Israeli occupation, which occupies our Arab lands in Palestine, Syria and Lebanon, and openly declares its expansionist agenda in the region.

Anyone who looks closely at the state of our nation will surely realize that imported security has not achieved anything noteworthy for our nation. It has imposed military alliances under American guardianship based on the so-called “Abraham Accords”; but these only benefit the occupier, while they divide the nation and its word, and impose on it internal wars that tear its body apart, waste its wealth, and bequeath it lasting enmities.

The Islamic world is rich in the competencies, experiences and capabilities necessary to achieve defense and economic integration, provided that the right vision and firm will are available, followed by frank, genuine dialogue. Therefore, our peoples look forward to greater integration and cooperation among our Islamic countries, without harming the peoples who share our geography and our common life, as well as the bonds of religion and Islamic brotherhood.
