MB: We Condemn Morocco’s Normalization with Israel.. Convergence of Arab, Islamic Powers Is the Path to Regional Balance
The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) condemns the recent agreement between Morocco and “Israel” to upgrade their relations, including elevating their respective diplomatic missions to embassies and appointing ambassadors to both them; and to expand cooperation between the two sides, at a time when many countries of the world are distancing themselves from the Zionist entity; and “Israel” continues to occupy Palestinian, Syrian and Lebanese territories, threatens Egypt and Jordan through declared displacement schemes, seeks to impose its hegemony over the region, undermining any balance that would prevent it from singling out the region's states, and pursues policies that have drawn international condemnation and punitive measures from Western nations – particularly Spain, Ireland, and Norway – as well as facing international criminal prosecution.
While condemning this decision by the Moroccan government, the MB distinguishes between it and the brotherly Moroccan people, who are known for their support of the Palestinian cause and their rejection of occupation and normalization. In this regard, the Brotherhood also appreciates the resilience of the Arab and Islamic countries that reject Israeli and American pressures and temptations to join the so-called “Abraham Accords”.
It also warns against giving in to Israeli blackmail in exchange for temporary gains or guarantees, as this widens the gap between governments and their peoples and weakens the region at a time when a cohesive official and popular stance is needed.
The Brotherhood believes that restoring regional balance begins with bridging the gaps between the main centers of power in the region: Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Pakistan, and Iran. Despite existing differences, understanding among these countries, building a foundation for partnership, and managing contentious issues through dialogue is the most realistic way to protect the region's interests and expand the scope of its countries' independence.
This road may be long and bumpy, but it is more beneficial than continuing to bet on an external protection umbrella that the recent war has proven to be unreliable. It has also proven that “Israel” cannot be a source of security or stability for the region, but rather continues to build its project on the basis of dismantling or weakening the countries of the region, exploiting their differences, and violating their sovereignty.
The Muslim Brotherhood affirms that it has been and will remain the popular support for every sincere effort aimed at bringing these countries closer together and restoring regional balance and stability, overcoming any differences in other matters, and that it is putting all its political and popular capabilities at the service of this path, in order to protect Egyptian national security, support Palestine, and the interests of the peoples of the region.
