MB Calls on International Community to Take Action for Protection of Journalists in Gaza

The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) calls on the international community to take urgent and serious procedures to stop the Israeli occupation’s attacks on journalists in Gaza, and to ensure their protection from exposure to dangers while practicing their profession, as the number of martyrs among journalists since the beginning of the war has reached 109 journalists so far.

The Brotherhood reaffirms that, under international humanitarian law, which requires protection of journalists, targeting journalists in peacetime is a crime, as it is a war crime during wartime.

MB also stresses that the occupation forces deliberately target journalists in order to hide the picture and silence the truth. The occupation forces also target the journalists’ families to punish them for exposing the occupation’s ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people.

The Muslim Brotherhood extends its sincere condolences to head of Al-Jazeera office in Gaza journalist Wael Al-Dahdouh, for the martyrdom of his son, journalist Hamza Al-Dahdouh, in an Israeli bombardment that targeted a group of journalists in the Gaza Strip.

The martyrdom of Hamza Al-Dahdouh was preceded by the martyrdom of a number of the family members of journalist Wael Al-Dahdouh, including his wife, son, daughter, and grandson.

MB also extends its sincere condolences to the family of journalist Mustafa Thuraya, who was also martyred today in the same Israeli bombing.

The Brotherhood mourns all the journalists who were  martyred, both male and female, and offers its condolences to their families, praying to Allah Almighty to accept all those who have been martyred on the soil of the glorious Gaza.
