MB Condolences on the Demise of Pope Francis, Head of the Catholic Church
The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) expresses its condolences on the passing of Pope Francis, head of the Catholic Church, who passed away today at the age of 88.
The Pope was known for his support of peace and interfaith coexistence, as well as his stance against the rising Islamophobia in the West, his efforts to support the oppressed, and his rejection of wars and conflicts.
The late Pope is remembered for his clear call for an end to the war in Gaza and his positions on the Palestinian cause in general, including his recognition of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, in addition to his explicit condemnation of the ongoing aggression against Gaza.
These positions, embraced by Pope Francis, manifest embodiment of humanitarian values that we hope will resonate in the West, leading it to halt its excessive support for the Israeli occupation.
The Brotherhood extends its sincere condolences to the adherents of the Catholic Church across the world, hoping that the humanitarian stances adopted by the late Pope will contribute to boosting dialogue and understanding between peoples and religions in the service of all humanity.
