MB Statement on the Anniversary of Glorious 6th. October Victory

The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) extends its sincere congratulations to the Egyptian people and the men of the armed forces on the occasion of the anniversary of the glorious Sixth of October victory, the day on which Egyptians registered an unforgettable epic of heroism, courage, determination, and faith.

The Sixth of October (1973) has been a memorable day in the nation's history and in the annals of the Egyptian military. It was the day on which the Egyptian people reaffirmed confidence in themselves, and on which our armed forces demonstrated that when the national will is embodied in high-level scientific and professional preparation, it becomes capable of overcoming the impossible.

The great crossing and the shattering of the Bar Lev Line were a testament to the Egyptians' ability to correct course, overcome mistakes, and achieve victory with their minds and arms. They destroyed the myth of the alleged "invincible army," and restored the nation's dignity and the Arabs' spirit.

Our national history will continue to proudly remember the sacrifices of the men of the armed forces: ﴾And never think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision.﴿  (Al Imran: 169).

The Egyptian national history will also remain faithful to the memory of the leaders who managed and prepared well, and the soldiers who faced the fire with open hearts, believing that ‘Allahu Akbar’ (Allah is Greatest) and that victory comes from Allah.

The spirit of October is not just a recounted memory, but rather an ongoing belief and a perpetual duty. Just as liberating the land was the duty of the time then, today's duty is to defend Egyptian national security in the face of renewed dangers and Israeli aggression, which relies on force and arrogance, disregards the borders of states and the rights of peoples, clinging to the illusion of "Greater Israel."

One of the most important and timeless lessons of the Sixth of October victory is that the Egyptian army has existed to protect land, honor, and sovereignty, and that its greatest strength is demonstrated when it devotes itself to its sacred mission of defending the homeland and preparing to confront the military challenges imposed by the volatile regional environment.

The Sixth of October victory was the result of dedication, devotion and high-level military professionalism. And prepare against them whatever you can of power...﴿   (Al-Anfal: 60).

Preservation of this victory today requires that the military institution remains true to its commitment, resilient in its combat doctrine, dedicated to its authentic mission of protection of borders and safeguarding of national security, while cohesive with its people, who see it as their trusted shield and the pillar of their stability and survival.

The challenges and threats facing us today require awakening the October spirit latent in the consciousness of Egyptians. It is what makes this people, in times of crisis, unite and not back down. It also requires that our military preparations be comprehensive and integrated, and that our regional and international partnerships be solid and effective, ensuring our ability to protect our security, our borders, and the nation's supreme interests in a turbulent world that recognizes only force and blatantly sides with the usurping occupying entity.

Let us recall this eloquent lesson from the memory of October, that is: Victory is not inherited, rather it is made every day through preparation, work, vigilance, and faith in the homeland that can never be defeated as long as its children are loyal to it.

Long live Egypt, free and proud; And long live the Egyptian armed forces, as shield and sword of the homeland.
