MB Urges Remaining Arab Dictators to Learn from Libyan Revolution, Relinquish Power

Another tyrant has fallen after he ruled his country with iron and fire, oppression and terror, prisons and detention camps, gallows and assassinations for more than forty years. The people revolted against him in a revolution that was a peaceful at the beginning, but when that tyrant began to use the planes, tanks and rocket launchers against his people, they took up whatever light arms available to defend themselves. The Libyan people gave thousands of martyrs and tens of thousands of wounded and injured people over the last six months, until Allah Almighty granted them the victory they deserve in the holy month of Ramadan, which is a blessing and miracle from Allah.

This is era of the people, the era of freedoms and human rights, the age of elimination of tyrants. As the people move and make sacrifices, it becomes clear that no force of any kind can stand in their way, and it becomes clear that nothing – even the harshest weapons or armies – would ever stand between the people and achieving their goals. This is the third lesson in the Arab region and North Africa, where this whole are is completely liberated from Egypt to Tunisia passing through Libya.

The Muslim Brotherhood, as it praises Allah for this victory, offers sincere congratulations to the heroic Libyan people; the sons of Omar al-Mukhtar. With the virtue of Allah Almighty, they managed to end the nightmare, defeat the tyrant and restore freedom to the Libyan nation and people.

The Brotherhood also offers condolences to the martyrs who gave their lives for the sake of saving their families and their country from oppression and humiliation.

The phase of the revolution as a whole, with all the suffering, bitterness and sacrifice, should never end up with becoming a reason for bloody revenge that would deepen the wounds and tearing apart the unity of the people. On the contrary, the Libyans should leave it to the just and rightful judiciary to settle the matters of the criminals and the corrupt ones. They should be paying more attention to unity and reunification, and they should direct their efforts to state-building and establishing its institutions, bodies, constitutional and legal documents, as well as its economy and its renaissance, which are tasks that are much more difficult because the rebuilding after the demolition is never easy.

The peoples that have suffered from tyranny and corruption and then enjoyed the freedom after paying the heavy price can never forsake their freedom and dignity and accept a new tyrant – be it an individual or a group of people - whether under coercive means or ways of deception and deceit. Hence, the revolutionaries in Libya and elsewhere should take all necessary measures and be careful and watching for the revolution’s thieves and enemies who wish to deviate it away from its due path.

The people joined the revolution to restore their independence, freedom and dignity, therefore, there is a must to maintain the national pride and unity in the face of any foreign interference, while maintaining good balanced relations, especially with the countries that have supported the revolution.

This great victory should be a lesson for all the dictators, especially those who still shed the blood of their people and trying to conquer their will, and abort their revolutions, whether in Syria or Yemen. The heart of the lesson is that people are the victorious ones – Allah’s willing – who will prevail at the end no matter how long it takes and no matter how great the sacrifices are. The Libyan lesson should tell the other tyrants that they should leave before destruction prevails in their countries and before it ruins or demolishes the land and the people.
