On the anniversary of the demise of Mr. Ibrahim Munir

Today marks the first anniversary of the demise of Mr. Ibrahim Munir, the former acting Muslim Brotherhood General Guide (may Allah have mercy on him), as he passed away on 4 November 2022, after a history replete with Da’wa, jihad, and sacrifice.

We remember him on the day of his passing away –despite the fact that his memory is always present and never gone away– to pray for Allah to have mercy on him; and to remember his well-deserved virtues, as the group is still living the impacts of the efforts he exerted for his Da’wa, until the end of his life. His positions are still the talk of the group and all those concerned with its affairs. He bore responsibility for the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) at a critical time, and a critical situation, as well, which was an outcome of the conditions left behind by the 2013 ordeal in Egypt.

The late Mr. Munir assumed responsibility as acting Muslim Brotherhood General Guide following the arrest of Dr Mahmoud Ezzat, may he, along with all his brothers, be released. Mr. Munir continued to work to solve the problems and remove the obstacles that had shattered the group, until he established work on its reunification, restoration of institutionalism, and consolidation of the unity and stability foundations. When he died, he left the group in stable condition, and its ranks united together on one word.

We remember him on the day of his demise, for his resistance to attempts to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization - in the face of the pursuit of the Egyptian regime to ban it- through his arguments about the group’s approach, in all his declarations and communiqués, and through his diplomacy, when he refuted the accusation of terrorism off the group before the British House of Commons, which contributed to removal of the risks that were threatening it and the Islamic action in Europe and in other parts of the world. We remember him on the day of his passing for his support of the Palestinian cause; as he was one of the first to support Hamas, and early contributed to its establishment, according to a testimony from its leadership on his memorial service. The cause of Palestine was his primary concern, and was always at the top of his agenda, as the Guidance Office assigned him to establish a global support body for backing the steadfastness of the Palestinian people. And here is the blessed Al-Aqsa Flood defeating the enemies of humanity, and defending Palestine and Al-Aqsa Mosque.

May Allah have mercy on you, Abu Ahmed, and accept your giving and effort in His cause with goodly acceptance, make the Paradise of Eternity your abode, and gather you ‘with the prophets, the steadfast affirmers of truth, the martyrs and the righteous; and excellent are those as companions’.

Allah Is the Greatest, and Praise Be to Allah

Dr. Salah Abdel Haq

Acting Muslim Brotherhood General Guide
