On Universal Declaration of Human Rights Anniversary.. Humanity Is Dying in Gaza

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

On this day, seventy-four years ago, the world agreed to the Universal Declaration on Human Rights (UDHR), a charter in which the United Nations member states pledged to cooperate to ensure that human rights and fundamental freedoms are observed and respected, based on the inherent dignity of human beings. The UDHR admitted equal rights for everyone (across the world) without any kind of discrimination on the basis of race, colour, religion, etc. Although these rights are relatively violated from one country to another, however, in the case of the Palestinian people, all these rights have completely been violated.

Today, there is no human right to life for the people of Gaza: they have no right to security of life and money; no right to shelter and freedom of movement; no right to food and drink; no right to medical treatment and education; or any other rights stated in the thirty articles of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights.

Therefore, we are not exaggerating if we say that the conscience of humanity dies when it comes to Gaza. There is no clearer evidence of this situation than the shameful position of the United States, when it yesterday, 9 December, used its veto power at the UN Security Council to prevent a resolution for stopping the war in Gaza!, thus letting the killing of civilians continue!, and blessing the crimes against humanity there!!

Therefore, the Muslim Brotherhood confirms that the global order and the international laws on which it is based is a system based on concepts of power and its balances, not on the values of justice, mercy, and equality. The group stresses that the world is in need of the mercy and justice of Islam, which does not distinguish between its followers and others. In the message of the Prophet Mohamed to the worlds (all beings), there is all mercy that can bring humanity out of the law of the jungle to the oasis of humanity. Allah Almighty said:  And We have not sent you, [O Mohamed], except as a mercy to the worlds  [all beings].﴿ (Al-Anbiya: 107)

In fact, the world is in need of the morals of Islam and its laws in the times of peace and war; those morals of which we see a glimpse in the behaviour of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) towards prisoners of war and those whom they have agreements with, in a moral model that shakes living consciences.

As the war on Gaza continues and global protests escalate, the Muslim Brotherhood hails the global mobilization calling for a comprehensive strike tomorrow, Monday, December 11, in rejection of the Zionist massacres in Gaza. The Brotherhood emphasizes the peoples’ right to express their attitude towards the Zionist aggression and show their support to the Palestinian cause.

The MB calls on the Arab and Islamic peoples and all the free people of the world to further escalate and exercise various forms of popular, political and parliamentary pressure on the official circles to work on ending the fighting and stopping the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.

Oh Allah Almighty, bestow your protection on Gaza and support its people, for You are the Excellent Protector, and the Excellent Supporter.

Allah Is the Greatest, and Praise Be to Allah
