MB Press Release on the Prison Sentence Against Sheikh Rached Ghannouchi

The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) denounces the trial of Islamic thinker Sheikh Rached Ghannouchi, the Ennahda Party leader, and former Tunisian Parliament Speaker, and sentencing him to three years in prison and a fine. 

The MB views the trial of Ghannouchi as a form of political machinations and tyranny, which does not achieve justice, but undermines democracy, in addition to being an assault on a struggling political figure with an honourable national history and a high intellectual standing in the Islamic world.

The Brotherhood calls on the Tunisian authorities to immediately release Ghannouchi and all political detainees. May Allah protect Tunisia and its people from all evil.
