Knight of the Word and Faqih of Da’wa – Prof. Mohamed Ahmed Al-Rashed, Has Dismounted
﴾ Among the believers are men true to what they promised Allah. Among them is he who has fulfilled his vow [to the death], and among them is he who awaits [his chance]. And they did not alter [the terms of their commitment] by any alteration. ﴿ (Al-Ahzab: 23).
The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) mourns one of its leaders and scholars, and one of the high-profile knights of the word and language and faqih (jurisprudent) of the Da’wa: Sheikh Abdul-Moneim Saleh al-Ali al-Azzi, known as Prof. Mohamed Ahmed Al-Rashed, who -may Allah have mercy on him- passed away this awfully sad morning.
The Da’wa and MB Faqih Prof. Al-Rashed has passed away after a life full of action, Da’wa (Islamic preaching), and jihad on the way of Allah. He enriched the Islamic library with the synthesis of his deep thought -that doesn't have the range here- and which is abundant in most popular biography; as he deposited it in books and series, the likes of which are rare, as it overflows with wisdom, faith, vitality, and fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence).
Actors in the field of the call (Da’wa) to Allah throughout the Islamic world were raised on this intellectual synthesis contained in his books. He -may Allah have mercy on him- authored books on thought and education, as well as on the field and the movement affairs. He left a legacy of knowledge and action together. His visions and books have greatly influenced the thought of the Islamic Movement and its various movement tracks. Therefore, he deserved to be the Imam of the generation, where most of the MB advocates and men were raised on his thought and understanding.
As the Brotherhood mourns the deceased, it prays to Allah Almighty to bestow His extended mercy upon him, and to join him with the prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous, and what excellent companions they are. At this point, we offer our condolences to ourselves and pray to Allah Almighty to provide us with patience over Prof. Al-Rashed’s loss. We also extend our sincere condolences to his family, brothers, students, and loved ones, and appeal to Allah to grant them patience and solace.
Allah Almighty said: ﴾ And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits; but give good tidings to the patient. Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return". ﴿ (Al-Baqarah: 155-156).
