MB: We call for confrontation of the Israeli aggression and supporting Syria during the transitional period
The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) condemns the Israeli occupation army's incursion into the buffer zone between Syria and the Israeli-occupied Syrian Golan Heights, occupying Jabal Ash Shaykh (Mountain of the Sheikh) area, known as “Mount Hermon” area, and targeting and destroying the military potentials and strategic weapons of the Syrian army, via launching hundreds of air strikes on Syria since the downfall of Bashar al-Assad's rule two days ago, taking advantage of Syria’s preoccupation with rearrangement of its internal situation.
The MB stresses that the Israeli incursion is a violation of the 1974 Agreement on Disengagement between Syria and Israel, noting that international agreements are not concluded by the regime or the person that established them, nor do they cease to exist with their removal or ouster. Furthermore, bombing Syrian military sites is a blatant assault on the sovereignty and potentials of an independent state and a clear violation of the international law.
Accordingly, the Brotherhood highlights the significance of a decisive international intervention by the United Nations, especially since the buffer zone between Syria and the Israeli-occupied Syrian Golan Heights is under its control and the watch of its forces, in addition to the fact that it is a demilitarized area under the above agreement (Agreement on Disengagement between Syria and Israel). We also emphasize the significance of the Security Council's role in curbing the expansion of the scope of conflicts ignited by the Israeli occupation in the Middle East region.
Therefore, the Muslim Brotherhood calls on Arab and Islamic countries and all countries of the world to support the Syrian people for the liberation of Syria from all external aggression and foreign occupation, and for safely passing through the transitional period towards stability and establishment of a system of governance based on the popular will.
