A cry to the Arab and Islamic elites: Confront the systematic smear campaign against Palestinian resistance
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) follows with extreme condemnation the escalating defamation and incitement campaigns to which the Palestinian resistance, particularly the Islamic Resistance Movement – Hamas, is being subjected in the Arab media outlets. Such campaigns unfortunately exploit the dire humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and the worsening suffering of its people due to the blockade and starvation, in attempt to weaken the Palestinian people's resilience and break their will.
We’d like to emphasize that these campaigns, spearheaded by the occupation and its media arms, and followed by some voices affiliated with the Arab nation, do not target Hamas alone, but rather undermine the very essence of the Palestinian liberation project and accordingly pave the way for the liquidation of the Palestinian cause and the passage of normalization projects in the area.
Given this critical situation, we urgently appeal to writers, thinkers, politicians, media professionals, and opinion leaders in the Arab and Islamic world to undertake their historical and legitimate role at every level in order to:
1- Scientifically and objectively face the systematic smear campaigns and refute the suspicions and malicious accusations aimed at demonizing the resistance and undermining its legitimacy, despite the fact that national liberation movements are legitimate under divine laws and international law.
2- Consolidate the Palestinian resilience discourse, establish collective awareness of the nature of the battle; and educate the masses that the occupation is primarily responsible for the blockade, starvation, and destruction, and that all attempts to cast doubt (on the resistance) only serve the enemy's goals.
3- Focus criticism on the enemy and hold it responsible for the siege and ethnic cleansing, and also on the Arab governments that have not worked to break the siege, bring in aid, or escalate politically and legally to counter the occupation’s practices.
4- Stress that the resistance force represents the first line of defense for Arab national security, especially for the surrounding countries (Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon), in the face of an expansionist entity that does not hide its ambitions for the land, identity, and sovereignty.
5- Call for the Palestinian people, in all its spectrum, to rally behind the resistance, unify the national ranks, and prevent the enemy from sowing discord and weakening the internal front of the struggling Palestinian people.
6- Draw the attention on the need for the Arab and Islamic masses, as well as all free people of the world, to remain vigilant in providing media, psychological, and moral support for the resistance; so that the enemy would not tend for further escalation to liquidate the Palestinian cause while we are preoccupied.
To conclude, we emphasize that the Palestinian resistance, particularly Hamas, does not represent a specific faction, but rather expresses the will of the nation in its most precious and sacred battles; and that your move to support it at this historic moment is a moral, national, and religious duty.
Let your words be a weapon that would complete the path of the martyrs, proving that this nation has not died and that its voice still rises above the campaigns of discouragement and distortion. Also, let you provide support and aid to those resilient mujahideen and be a voice that reaches our people.
Allah Almighty says in Surat Al-Tawbah: ﴾ And it is not for the believers to go forth [to battle] all at once. For there should separate from every division of them a group [remaining] to obtain understanding in the religion and warn their people when they return to them that they might be cautious. ﴿(Al-Tawbah: 122). He also says in Surat Al-Hajj: ﴾ …And Allah will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might. ﴿(Al-Hajj: 40)
