MB: We value Sheikh Rached Ghannouchi's stance and his call for unity in the battle for freedom

The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) followed up on Sheikh Rached Ghannouchi's latest message from inside his detention place at the Mornaguia Prison, in which he announced going on hunger strike in solidarity with the Tunisian struggler Jawhar bin Mubarak, stressing from behind bars that the cause of freedom is above all ideological and political differences.

The MB views Sheikh Ghannouchi's explicit call for turning the page on the past as a sincere appeal to all national, Islamic, liberal, and leftist forces to unite under the banner of defending freedoms in Tunisia and confronting tyranny.

While expressing its full solidarity with Sheikh Rached Ghannouchi, and with the Tunisian struggler Jawhar bin Mubarak, as well as all political detainees in Tunisia, the Brotherhood calls upon all honorable people in the Arab and Islamic nations to stand by them and support their just struggle against oppression and persecution.

The Muslim Brotherhood also calls on all national and political forces in Egypt and all Arab countries to rally around the peoples’ demands for freedom and change, to liberate homelands from the grip of tyranny and restore the peoples' dignity and sovereignty, noting that the first demand of freedom is the liberation of the detainees wherever they may be and stopping all forms of political oppression and violations of justice.
