MB Condolences on the Passing of Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah, Wife of Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad
We received with deep sorrow and grief the news of the passing of Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali – wife of former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad – who departed this life today.
Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah’s passing follows a lifetime of dedicated giving alongside her husband – the renowned statesman in the Islamic world and the key architect of Malaysia’s renaissance – and a distinguished activity in medicine, public health, and the fight against drug abuse, as well as support for issues concerning women and the family in society.
In fact, she left behind a legacy that extends far beyond her role as the spouse of a prominent figure in Malaysian history.
The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) extends its sincere condolences and sympathy to Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, Dr. Siti Hasmah’s children and family, and the people of Malaysia.
We pray to Allah Almighty to accept her good deeds, grant her mercy and forgiveness, honor her resting place, and bestow patience and solace upon her husband and family.
Allah Almighty says in Surat Al-Baqarah: ﴾And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits; but give good tidings to the patient; Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return." ﴿ (Al-Baqarah: 155-156)
