MB: Ben-Gvir’s Statements and the Storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque Warns of Gravity of the Situation in Jerusalem

The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) condemns the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards yesterday, Monday, 28 September 2026, by hundreds of settlers, as well as the performance of Talmudic prayers and rituals and the holding of singing and dancing circles, in violation of the mosque's sanctity and as a provocation to Muslim sentiments.

The MB also condemns the statements made by Itamar Ben-Gvir, the Minister of National Security in the occupation government – who participated in the storming of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque – particularly when he said: “We are the owners of the place here…”, and “Today we pray in Al-Aqsa…”.

The Brotherhood stresses that Al-Aqsa Mosque belongs to all Muslims and that the occupation of Palestine grants the occupying power no jurisdiction over it under international law and resolutions. Consequently, it is necessary to respond to the provocative measures and statements of the occupation government.

In its resolution 476 (1980), the Security Council determined that Israeli measures aimed at altering the character and status of Jerusalem have no legal validity. Also, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) affirmed, in its 2024 advisory opinion, the illegality of the continued Israeli presence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

The Muslim Brotherhood calls upon Arab and Islamic peoples to express their outrage at these violations and urges the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Arab states, and the League of Arab States (LAS) to confront such statements and attacks directed at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The MB also calls upon Arab and Islamic peoples to express their outrage via all forms of political and media expression, and to pressure their governments to take positive stances in support of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Brotherhood also calls upon thought and opinion leaders to write about the Islamic right in general – and the Palestinian right to Jerusalem and its holy sites in particular – and to work for keeping the Palestinian cause present in the public consciousness as the foremost cause of Muslims.

The occupation has consistently sought to distract the world with crimes elsewhere, using one atrocity to obscure another. Therefore, its crimes against humanity must not make us lose sight of the violations occurring in Jerusalem and the danger threatening the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Allah Almighty says in Surat Al Isra: ﴾ Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al-Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing. ﴿ (Al Isra: 1)
