Hijra.. At the Defining Moment
Praise be to Allah, and blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah, Prophet Mohamed (peace be upon him), all his kinsfolk, companions, and followers till the Day of Judgment.
Now to the topic:
The divine preparation for the Prophet Mohamad (peace and blessings be upon him) was through a great event that would change the face of the universe; on the day when the Quraysh tribe was about to kill him (peace be upon him), where forty armed young men from Quraysh gathered and then spread out around the home of the Messenger of Allah under cover of darkness of the night, to strike him together as one man, so that his blood would be scattered among all tribes. And thus, the call to Islam would die in its cradle. But as Allah Almighty said in Surat Al-Imran: ﴾And the disbelievers planned, but Allah planned. And Allah is the best of planners.﴿ (Al-Imran: 54)
They wanted to remain in their Jahiliyyah (ignorance of the pre-Islam era) and misguidance. They worshipped idols that could neither benefit nor harm them; as they made them with their own hands and then bowed to them in prostration. They consumed usury, considered drinking alcohol and committing adultery permissible, and buried girls alive for fear of shame. They unjustly ate up the property of orphans and the vulnerable. Some of them would raid and attack others, and wars and blood feuds would break out between them for no reason, that one of them even said in a verse of poetry:
Sometimes we attack our brother ‘Bakr’ ** if we find none but our brother
When Allah Almighty sent Prophet Mohamad (peace and blessings be upon him), he came to call them to Islam and monotheism, to glory and civilization, to worshiping Allah alone and abandoning the worship of idols. He called them to uphold truth and invalidate falsehood, to do justice to the oppressed and deter the oppressor. He encouraged them to free slaves and called them to honor women and treat them fairly. He also called them to adopt noble morals and be keen on purity of appearance and heart; and he called them to unity, closeness, dignity and glory, after they had lived as servants to the great powers of that time: the Persian Empire in the East and the Roman Empire in the West.
But they rejected all that and resisted the noble Prophet, sometimes by distorting and mocking him, sometimes by harming and hurting him, and sometimes by besieging and starving him. Then they ended up conspiring to kill him, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Allah Almighty said in Surat Al-Anfal: ﴾And [remember, O Mohamad], when those who disbelieved plotted against you to restrain you or kill you or evict you [from Makkah]. But they plan, and Allah plans. And Allah is the best of planners.﴿ (Al-Anfal: 30)
At the decisive moment, the command came from Allah Almighty to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to leave Makkah and migrate to Yathrib (Medina). The Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had prepared everything including his mount, chosen his companion, and appointed the person who would be his guide on the way. The Messenger (Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) took every possible precaution, so he took an unfamiliar route and stayed for three days in the Cave of Thawr. Then, the moment of danger came when his companion Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: (If one of them looked at his feet, he would see us). However, the certainty rooted in the heart of the Messenger of Allah spoke out, when he said: “What do you think of two people, with Allah as their third? Do not be sad, Allah is with us.” After great effort and big miracles on the way, the beloved Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) arrived in Yathrib; that city that was longing to see him and was thirsty to follow his guidance. The people of Yathrib came out in full force to welcome him and chanted their immortal anthem:
“Tala’al-badru ‘alayna; Min thaniyyat il-wada’; Wajaba al-shukru ‘alayna; Ma da’a lillahi da’; Ayyuha al-mab’uthu fina; Ji’ta bi-al-amri al-muta’; Ji’ta sharrafta al-madinah; Marhaban ya khayra da’”:
O the white moon rose over us
from the valley of Wada’
And we owe it to show gratefulness
Where the call is to Allah
O you who were raised amongst us
Coming with a word to be obeyed
You have brought to this city nobleness
Welcome! Best caller to Allah’s way
From that moment, Yathrib transformed into al-Madinah al-Munawwarah (city of light), as the capital of the nascent Islamic nation. Al-Madinah al-Munawwarah surrendered its leadership to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH), and to the rule of Sharia and the holy Quran. Thus, it rose and ascended, and from it, light spread to the worlds, carrying the message of Islam, justice, mercy, and freedom.
Today, centuries later, the machinations of the first Jahiliyyah (pre-Islam era of ignorance) continue to besiege Islam and its people. The Muslim nation is being attacked by aggressive Zionists and hateful Crusaders, who occupy their land, usurp their wealth and the riches of their countries, expel them from their homes, and seek to destroy their holy sites, starting with Al-Aqsa Mosque and ending with Makkaha and Madinah.
They have already declared this today openly, after decades of concealing it through deception. They hold their distorted Torah, claiming that it contains sacred rights that permit them to shed blood, violate sanctities, kill children, burn neighborhoods, and destroy homes, hospitals, mosques, schools, universities, and all aspects of life.
But the Mujahideen (resistance fighters) in the blessed land of Palestine persevered and resisted the hordes of evil. They made their own weapons, shed their blood, sacrificed their lives, and even gave up all worldly matters. They withstood the siege and starvation, and faced killing and destruction, despite the betrayal of those close and distant, the conspiracy of the major powers, and the complicity of regimes.
Today, the decisive moment has approached, as the two sides have been distinguished:
- The side of evil and aggression, killing, starvation, siege, and destruction,
- The side of purity and chastity, resistance and steadfastness, sacrifice and redemption.
Allah’s victory will come to the believing group from where neither group expects, by His plan alone, after the plans of humans are no longer possible. ﴾[They continued] until, when the messengers despaired and were certain that they had been denied, there came to them Our victory, and whoever We willed was saved. And Our punishment cannot be repelled from the people who are criminals.﴿ (Yusuf: 110)
If the people of falsehood cling to their falsehood and cite their distorted books as evidence, then it is more appropriate for the people of truth to cling to their truth and their book, which ﴾Falsehood cannot approach it from before it or from behind it; [it is] a revelation from a [Lord who is] Wise and Praiseworthy.﴿ (Fussilat: 42)
There are clear heavenly texts that promise imminent victory in this regard: ﴾…then, when the final and the last promise comes near, We shall bring you altogether as mixed crowd.﴿ (Al-Isra: 104) And: ﴾ Then when the final promise came, [We sent your enemies] to sadden your faces and to enter the temple in Jerusalem, as they entered it the first time, and to destroy what they had taken over with [total] destruction.﴿ (Al-Isra: 7)
Here, comes the good news of the truthful Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in the holy Hadith narrated from Abu Hurairah conveying it from the Prophet, as Allah's Messenger said, "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so come and kill him."
It is a confrontation (from zero distance), in which the brave, heroic resistance fighters win, and in which the cowardly usurpers flee, those who are (the most greedy and eager for life), even if it is a life of filth, arrogance, and immorality.
O righteous Mujahideen, in the outskirts of Jerusalem, in Gaza, the West Bank, and all of Palestine, “persevere and endure and remain stationed”. You have done your utmost, and all that remains is for the divine will to intervene at the decisive moment, which we see as imminent and close.
O peoples and governments of Arabs and Muslims , rise to the aid of your brothers before the hordes of your enemy overwhelm you, baring its fangs and revealing its hatred, fanaticism, and ambitions in your countries as well as in theirs.
O free people of the world, stand with the truth against falsehood, and uphold humane principles, so that humanity may enjoy security and safety, freedom and peace, after the wicked have become arrogant and tyrannical, and have spread corruption on earth, thinking that they are (God's chosen people), to whom humanity must submit and be humble. Allah Almighty says about them: ﴾… Every time they kindled the fire of war [against you], Allah extinguished it. And they strive throughout the land [causing] corruption, and Allah does not like corrupters.﴿ (Al-Maidah: 64)
As we wait for Allah's promise, we must be keen on being sincere in our intentions, do our best, and prepare ourselves. ﴾… And Allah is predominant over His affair, but most of the people do not know.﴿ (Yusuf: 21)
Allah is the Greatest and to Allah all praises belong.
