Press Release
Some Egyptian media outlets have consistently fabricated news and disseminated lies about the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) and its prominent figures, as part of systematic campaigns to tarnish the image of a national group, sow fear, and mislead public opinion – noting that this takes place in the absence of a free and independent media.
Al-Dostor newspaper has falsely attributed to Dr. Helmy al-Gazzar a statement that "tens of thousands of elements inside Egypt are waiting for the right moment to move", with the aim of portraying a figure with a national history as a terrorist.
The MB Media Bureau stresses that this allegation is entirely fabricated and that it was never released by Dr. Helmy al-Gazzar in any media release, press interview, or via any official or unofficial platform affiliated with the group, noting that the circulated allegation is not based on any reliable source.
Moreover, the wording of the fabricated allegation also indicates that it was coined by entities that consistently use the term "elements" in their official statements.
In the same vein, the same newspaper published an accusation against Eng. Khairat al-Shater of embezzlement of three million Euros of donations intended for Gaza, in what appears to be a blatant targeting of two prominent figures of the group and national action.
As the MB Media Bureau is holding the al-Dostor newspaper fully responsible for publishing such falsehoods, it calls upon media outlets to adhere to journalistic ethics and refrain from publishing fabricated news and biased leaks.
In this regard, the MB Media Bureau also demands that the al-Dostor newspaper publish this press release on its platforms under the right of reply.
